Azhar Usman is a Chicago-based, multi-hyphenate standup comedian (writer, actor, producer). As a pioneer among American Muslim comedians, he was the co-creator of Allah Made Me Funny–The Official Muslim Comedy Tour, which influenced a generation of Muslim performers worldwide. Over the past two decades, he has worked closely with many Muslim entertainers, such as Dave Chappelle, Hasan Minhaj, Ramy Youssef, and Mo Amer. A member of the Writers Guild of America, his television writing credits include MO (Netflix) and RAMY (Hulu), both of which he served as Co-Executive Producer. As a member of SAG-AFTRA, his acting credits include MS. MARVEL (Disney+), DELI BOYS (Hulu), PATRIOT (Amazon), MOOZ-LUM (Independent Feature), and #1 HAPPY FAMILY USA (Amazon). A former attorney and dotcom entrepreneur, he was a co-founding Board Member of The Nawawi Foundation and an Arts & Culture Advisor to the Inner-City Muslim Action Network (IMAN) for many years. In the realms of policy and government, Azhar has performed at international conferences sponsored by The Brookings Institution, Wilton Park, and Arts Freedom, as well as at U.S. Embassies (in India, the UK, Belgium, Sweden, and Denmark), and community/charity events in over 25 countries. He speaks four languages and holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication from the University of Illinois at Chicago, and a Juris Doctorate degree from the University of Minnesota Law School.
