We are thrilled to announce sister Yaasha Abraham as AIC’s new Director of Mission & Development! Yaasha is a nonprofit management professional with 15 years of experience as a volunteer, artist collaborator, and practitioner, most recently employing her expertise in the areas of strategy development, change management, and fundraising techniques as a consultant for a Muslim nonprofit client base.
The eldest child of a large family of educators, she has a lifelong love of learning and is fascinated with all aspects of how the world works – be it political systems, scientific theories, or religious philosophies and principles; and she looks forward to applying this same curiosity in developing strategies that use time-tested and innovative techniques to support the fiscal growth and sustainability of America’s very first Muslim institution of higher learning. “The opportunity to lead this work at an institution like AIC is nothing short of a dream,” she says as she looks forward to simultaneously resuming her studies as an AIC MDiv student. Yaasha’s other interests include reading, fine dining, travel, cafe hopping, all things African Americana, random adventures around Chicago, modest fashion, and world music and dance.
